Athletics & Campus Recreation
Providing athletes with competitive opportunities and personal and educational growth.
Who We Are
Athletics at Princeton are designed to complement the university’s essential educational mission, and foster a shared allegiance among Princeton students, faculty, staff, alumni, community, and friends.
What We Do
Princeton Athletics is the home of both Intercollegiate Athletics/Sport Clubs and Campus Recreation. The University offers a wide range of intercollegiate, club, intramural, and recreational and fitness programs for all levels of interest and ability.
Intercollegiate Athletics
During the 2023-2024 academic year, Princeton fielded 38 intercollegiate varsity teams and 38 student-led club teams. Historically, Princeton has won a league-high 541 Ivy League championships. Princeton has finished as the top Ivy League team in the Directors’ Cup, which attempts to rank the top athletic programs in the country. By combining that success with the highest ethical and moral standards, with an emphasis on performance science to promote student-athlete wellness and experience, and with its place as a highly visible window into the University for the local community and alumni all over the world, the Department of Athletics gives Princeton a source of great pride while serving as a national model for intercollegiate athletics.
